"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close." Psalm 27:10

In Isaiah 49, the prophet Isaiah cries out to the children of Israel to return to the love and compassion of their God. He says “Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb?....” (Isa 49:15) Sadly, we know in the world today many children feel forgotten and abandoned by their parents or are the real victims of tragedy and loss. In every situation His answer is the same “Even if these [could] forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands....” (Isa 49: 15-16) Old Testament folks only knew God as Yahweh or Jehovah, but the new name by which we get to know God, the name that Jesus came to reveal to us, is “Father” and for us to know Him deeply as our provider, protector, caretaker and our complete support system. He is the perfect parent and no one can do a better job than Him! How can you feel forgotten when God Himself has your name on the palms of His hands? That means He couldn’t forget about you if He tried! Child of God, His face of love is always towards you, and you have Hi full attention! No matter where you come from or your family situation, He wants to heal your broken places and know tha His restoration means you never have to feel like you come from a “broken” hom. When God Almighty is your Father, you have your home in Him!

Father God, We worship you for who you are and the Son of your love that came to reveal who you are to us. Father, please comfort all who mourn the loss of a parent and those who feel inadequate in and of themselves. Confirm in their hearts that their identity, adequacy, and ability comes from you. Move powerfully in their lives to build up the broken places and let them know that You will shelter and support them all their days. We ask this in the beautiful name of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen!
