Bringing up the Next Generation:
Matthew 18:2-6: "Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me. But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
Proverbs 24:10–11: "If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter."
There are many children in the Church who are struggling, whether it be because of divorce or just because of a difficult family life at home. These children feel beat down, depressed, and as if their lives are hopeless. Many adults have experienced this as well and may know the hurt of these children. As the church, it is our responsibility to reach out to these children who are hurting, take them under our wing, and teach them. We need to guide them in the midst of their circumstances and lead them along God’s path. These are children made in God’s image and given a calling, and we must obey God’s command to help these children. If the Church fails to respond to this need, who will remain to carry on the future work of the Kingdom of God and show God’s light to the world? Rise up and pour into the Children of God.
In this time when there are many children hurting, please light a fire in people’s hearts to obey Your commands to humble ourselves, help suffering children, and care for the least of these. Raise up people in the church to instruct the next pastors, leaders, missionaries, prophets, and workers for Your kingdom. Convict people to show compassion and guide these children during the dark seasons of their lives directing them to stay on Your narrow path. Lord God, we don't want to see a generation of hurting, depressed adults. Let us help them now so they may live their lives for You in the joy and light that You alone can give.
In Your Name we pray, Jesus
